There is fairly good evidence that babies in utero respond to music.
For years mothers have talked or sung to their unborn babies and believed that the baby hears and responds – and is more tuned to her voice once born. More musical mothers have played music.
The Spanish company Babypod has taken that a step further. The sound is too muffled heard through the abdominal wall they claim, and they have come up with a natty, pink, sort of musical dildo – a speaker on a wire the woman inserts into her vagina to play music to the baby.
In a study done at the Institut Marques in Barcelona, Spain, they tried this gismo and claimed the baby responded from as early as 16 weeks. And didn’t just respond - it seemed to sing along.
So will junior come out singing Beyonce or Justin Bieber? The Spanish researchers are thinking these evolving maestro’s were a bit more cultured than that. They played them Bach’s Partita in A Minor.
